2020-03-08 - NARCON 2020 - May 6-8th 2020

NARCON is the NARNational Association of Rocketry's annual CONvention. This NARCON was a live event in Tucson, Az. It turned out to be the last live NARCON for some years, as COVID-19 had just taken hold in the U.S. This was our debut appearance as a manufacturer and we had a wonderful time. We had never attended NARCON before and this one was only 4 hours from home, so how could we not go.

I was grateful that we had. As often happens with Gloria and I, everything went perfectly. I learned that this convention is different in flavor than either NSLNational Sport Launch or NARAMNational Association of Rocketry Annual Meet, the other two NAR national events. Based on our experience with NARCON I would call it the Brain Trust of the NAR. As we socialized, attended meetings, and joined the special events it was obvious that these are the people who volunteer their time and talents to make rocketry clubs work. Within the rocketry community, these are our customers.

The event was well attended and the hotel was nice. The Manufacturer's forun was in a meeting room on the third floor. I parked the car near the closest elevator and just as we were about to haul our presentation upstairs, two friends who had just arrived walked up and offered to help out. We met many important players in the NAR and many vendors. We got some good advise and a lot of positive reviews of our products.

Since this NARCON we have been attending each Virtual NARCON on line. We miss the live event and hope that NARCON will some day be in person again.
