2023-01-22 - Fiberglass Standoffs
We have considered with the idea of providing Fiberglass Standoffs with our SPORT Launch Rack since the beginning. Several well placed attendees at NARCON 2020 recommended we drop the idea because they will ultimately burn the same way that spent motor casings do – so they would not be worth the money. We are now reconsidering this recommendation.
- Two customers (out of 40+) commented about the absence of standoffs. One actually begged us to send some, which we did.
- Our Education customers are not collecting spent motors and many do not even use D motors, which is what we recommend for our SPORT Launch Rack.
- We have incidentally been testing fiberglass standoffs with FLARE (our local NAR section) since 2018 and they have not burned in any significant manner.
I talked with Curtis at Composite Warehouse this morning about our desire to custom order 24mm Red Fiberglass tube cut to 2.66" lengths. He estimated that they could do this with a minimum order of 50 units. The price was very reasonable. As of Jan 23rd 2023 we have decided to add these standoffs as an option when ordering the SPORT or fiver/SPORT bundle. They will also be available for order as a stand-alone product, package of five.
